The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the 21st Century High Performance Public Schools Act (H.R. 2187) by a vote of 275-155.

AIA vice president of government and community relations, Paul T. Mendelsohn said, “Investing in green high-performing schools is a triple winner: it creates safer, brighter and healthier environments for children to learn. It helps school districts save money through lower electric bills. And it creates jobs. We estimate that this legislation would create or save 100,000 jobs. We commend the House for passing this legislation, and we urge the Senate to take it up quickly to help improve our nation’s education system and get our economy moving again.”
