Classy Blues
Much has been made in the local New York City news about the sale of a penthouse apartment atop 111 Central Park North for $8 million, setting a record for an apartment in Harlem.
Why all that money? Because the nearly 4,000-square-foot unit had 30-foot-high glass-walled living room with views into Central Park and all the way down to Midtown and the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings.
The L-shaped building with its blue-glass look was designed by architect Peter Schubert of New York City-based RMJM Hillier. Guardian Industries Corp. supplied the SunGuard Neutral 50 coating on clear glass, which is what gives it the distinctive neutral blue look. Trulite fabricated the glass units. The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based glass manufacturer worked with Pioneer Windows on the project.
