Schott Unveils Moodglass Decorative Product

Moodglass, a line of glass inset with decorative fabrics, has been introduced by Schott’s advanced materials division. Moodglass panels feature high-quality designer fabric sandwiched between two sheets of Amiran anti-reflective glass. The product is designed to enable designers to use fabrics to decorate building interiors in places where it was once impractical or impossible to do so.

German fabric designer Jab Anstoetz developed the vivid fabrics to be displayed between the sheets of anti-reflective glass so that the glass disappears, highlighting only the beauty and texture of the fabric.

“Fabric has always been an important interior design element because of its ability to bring color and texture into a room,” says Donald Press, general manager of Schott’s architectural glass business, “but because fabric is also relatively fragile and easily soiled or frayed, it has generally been impractical for heavily trafficked areas. Moodglass changes that by combining the best features of glass, durability and ease of maintenance, with the softer quality of decorative fabric.”

Once installed, Moodglass is cleaned with standard glass cleaning agents, without affecting the fabric.
