Architects' Guide to Glass & MetalCRL Introduces Frameless Vertical Post System for Shower and Bath Enclosures

Los Angeles-based, C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. (CRL), has introduced frameless vertical post systems for all-glass look shower enclosures.

Brad Murphy, brand manager of CRL's shower door division, explains, "These systems are designed for installing glass-to-glass shower enclosures that don't extend to the ceiling. In most cases, it is difficult to keep the fixed glass stable unless a traditional horizontal header system is installed. But when patterned glass with decorative edges is installed, a horizontal header system can't be used, and glass-to-glass hinges alone can lead to an unstable situation. With our vertical post system, consumers can still incorporate attractive decorative glass panels in their shower door design while ensuring a safe and stable enclosure. The system is also an option when clear tempered glass is used in an installation."

The vertical post systems can be mounted in front of or behind the glass panels. Models include floor-to-ceiling and two-point ceiling mounted posts. Post shapes can be round or square with a maximum length of 33 inches (838 mm). Finishes include polished stainless, polished brass, brushed stainless, and oil rubbed bronze. Custom finishes are available. The system can be used with glass thicknesses of 1/2 inch (12 mm), 3/8 inch (10 mm), and 5/16 inch (8 mm).

The company also is introducing a similar system for restroom partitions that extend from ceiling to floor.
