Industry Suppliers Announce New Offerings
 The
new Visur double-acting pivot system from Dorma Glas enables the
installation of all-glass double acting doors without any visible
fittings, the company explains. All hardware components for both
single- and double-door configurations are completely concealed
in the surrounding structures of the door panel. Because of its
unobtrusive appearance, the Visur system gives architects freedom
to create unique designs without the concern of conflicting door
hardware, the supplier adds.

Dome'l has added the Dominator and Hurricane doors to its product
line. The doors are manufactured using laminated glass with a strong
interlayer that is designed to absorb the impact of airborne objects
while preventing shattering. Additionally, this pre-hung door system
utilizes thermally insulated aluminum throughout the frame, door
and threshold for energy efficiency and durability.

To
combat noise, Saflex, a unit of Solutia Inc., has developed SilentGlass
technology which combines three interlayers designed to decouple
and disseminate sound waves for state-of-the-art sound dampening
performance. The patent-pending product's acoustical interlayer
transforms sound energy into heat energy, which then easily and
quietly dissipates. The technology targets sound in the 1,000 to
3,000 Hz range, which is the "noise transparency" range that lets
most of the noise through. This range of noise includes car horns,
barking dogs, amplified music and aircraft.
