Architects' Guide to Glass & MetalGuardian Introduces Five Performance and Appearance Glass Options

SunGuard architectural glass from Guardian Industries Corp., which is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Mich., now has five new performance and appearance options by combining its coatings with its CrystalGray float glass.

The glass manufacturer points out that with SunGuard CrystalGray, architects can:

  • Achieve a more neutral appearance than with typical gray and blue tinted float glass;
  • Reduce outdoor reflectance and glare;
  • Lower the solar heat gain coefficient by 20 percent compared to coatings on clear glass; and
  • Meet design and LEED credit requirements.

SunGuard CrystalGray is available in five combinations: SuperNeutral 68 on CrystalGray, SuperNeutral 54 on CrystalGray, AG 50 on CrystalGray, AG 43 on CrystalGray, Royal Blue 40 on CrystalGray.

"These are our best performing low-E coatings in terms of energy savings and the most popular appearance options," says Chris Dolan, Guardian director of commercial glass programs. "SunGuard CrystalGray gives architects the freedom to realize their vision of a more neutral glass appearance without sacrificing energy performance."
