Architects' Guide to Glass & MetalKolbe Offers Architects Window Design Assistance

Kolbe offers architectural tools to inspire and inform design professionals and to expedite their project details including 3-D window models for Revit and Google SketchUp.

The window manufacturer says it has received a good response since unveiling its first 3-D window models six months ago. "Very well done," says James Leese, AIA, City Design, Fort Myers, Fla. "Not only are the models created correctly…they are remarkably versatile in that they also have options for brickmold, flat or profiled moldings, grilles or not, and other features. The range of window and door types, sizes and configurations available makes them work for most every type of situation."

With a five-star ranking, Kolbe's Ultra series windows and doors Google SketchUp models have been selected as a "Featured Collection" at Google 3D Warehouse. Now presenting more than one thousand models, Kolbe plans to add Windquest series vinyl windows and door Google SketchUp models. These products are designed to offer high design pressure ratings often needed for commercial projects, as well as hurricane impact-rated products.

Kolbe's 3-D Revit models also are highlighted among the "Featured Product Profiles" of the SmartBIM Library.

"Our Revit 3-D models are linked to specifications, 2-D details and performance to support the information portion of BIM," explains Cindy Bremer, director of marketing "With BIM, you not only can design the exact product, but also add multitude of data and information to the model. Visual communications are a more effective way to show the detail and options that Kolbe has to offer architects and their customers."
