Architects' Guide to Glass & MetalTraco Introduces Casement Window Line

Traco has added a casement series of products to the recently launched NX architectural line of aluminum windows. This new product series features a 3¼-inch frame in various styles including casement (AW-C80), projected (AW-AP80) and fixed (AW-FW80) units with 1-inch insulating glass and white bronze cam handles. The NX products are recommended for education, offices and multi-family segments with performance ratings of .42 U-value, 15 psf water, 0.1cfm/sf air and 0.27 SHGC.

The NX-3000 series features the manufacturer's Nexgen technology which includes a thermal that it says provides up to a 50 percent better thermal insulation than PVC or polyurethane and a spacer that reduces U values in standard IG units up to 15 percent compared to conventional units with a metallic spacer.

"This line of windows offers breakthrough energy performance for aluminum windows that is comparable to wood," says Bob Randall, president and CEO of the company. "This is an aluminum product line that provides structural strength, will satisfy stringent future energy codes, while allowing architects design options of two different color coatings on the exterior and interior for new construction and retrofit applications."
