James Carpenter Article in the NYT - Architects' Guide to Glass & Metal

James Carpenter Article in the NYT

August 4th, 2010 | Category: As I See It

The Sunday, August 1 issue of The New York Times had a one-page feature on James Carpenter and his creative use of glass in architecture. If you missed it, you can read it here.

The article explains the niche that Carpenter has developed in the architectural glass industry. It points out that while he started as a sculptor, now much of his work involves innovative uses of glass in buildings and that he is interested in “what is occurring on or in or through the material itself.”

Carpenter, who was a 2004 recipient of a MacArthur “genius” grant, says in the article that the $500,000 he got with the award has allowed him to try out ideas even when there is no client to finance them.
