Fighting Against Hurricanes with Glass Expo Northeast ‘22™ “Aluminum Glazing Systems” Seminar

February 9th, 2022 | Category: Event News, Industry News

The New York area is no stranger to hurricane season. Glass Expo Northeast™ ’22 (GENE) is offering “Hurricane Impact Resistance with Aluminum Glazing Systems,” an AIA-accredited seminar on April 6, at 11:30 a.m. in Uniondale, N.Y. This session is essential for those in the glazing industry to understand the vital impacts of glazing failures at the expense of dangerous hurricane conditions.

Presenter Greg Galloway, ProTek brand manager for YKK AP America Inc., will provide an in-depth program about the destructive power of hurricanes into specific failure modes and the actions taken over the last 15 years to minimalize the sources of glazing failures in these disastrous conditions. Click here to register.

Galloway says, “Changes in ASCE 7-16 eliminated most of the windborne debris region north of the Carolinas. Only the Eastern tip of Long Island and part of Cape Cod still require impact products for Risk Category 2. The area requiring impact-resistant products is larger for essential facilities: hospitals, police and fire stations, etc. Many of the states in the northeast have adopted the 2018 IBC, which references ASCE 7-16, so it is timely to explain the changes.”

Glass Expo Northeast™ ’22 offers two full days of comprehensive educational sessions, interaction with decision-makers, and networking opportunities for the architectural glass and metal industries. Don’t miss this seminar and the other exceptional learning opportunities.

GENE ’22 is co-sponsored by the Long Island Glass Association (LIGA), USGlass magazine, USGNN™ and Architects’ Guide to Glass & Metal.
